Ingredients

Directions

  1. Combine all lentils (daal) in a bowl. Wash and soak the lentils completely for 1 hour.

  2. Now in a wok add ghee and put it on medium flame to heat it.

  3. Add finely chopped onion in it and fry it till it turns to golden brown color.

  4. Add chopped tomatoes in the onions and give a good mix to it.

  5. Add salt, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder. Fry for 2-3 minutes so that spices could release their aroma.Add 2-3 tablespoon of water for frying if required so that spices could not burn.

  6. Now add 1.5 liter of water in this masala, cover the pot, turn the flame to high and let the water boil. You can also cook this daal in pressure cooker but slow cooking will give a better taste to it that's why I prefer cooking it without pressure cooker.

  7. When the water starts to boil add 2 chicken cubes and soaked daal in it. Give a mix, cover the pot again and let daal cook on low to medium flame for 35-40 minutes.

  8. After the time check daal it will be perfectly tender. Their would be some water in daal but i prefer it as it is. But if you want a thick consistency you can dry the water from it as per your requirement.

  9. Turn off the flame and put the wok aside as our daal is cooked and now we will temper it.

  10. In a frying pan add ghee and put it on medium low flame to heat.

  11. Add chopped garlic and cook for a minute.

  12. Then add slit green chilies, button red chilies, and red chili flakes in it. Cook for 30-40 seconds and then add this tadka in the cooked daal.

  13. Delicious special mix daal or shahi daal is ready. Serve with chapati or rice.

I experienced that cooking doesn't need to be threatening. I didn't figure out how to cook as a child. No treats or cakes with Grandma. Never helping mother cook meals. I needed to learn as a grown-up, due to legitimate need. I needed to figure out how to cook. So I just began cooking. It was unpleasant from the outset. I attempted to sear garlic, and everything turned green. It was one Pinterest fall flat after the other until I at least began to get its hang. For some time, I; despised cooking feared it with each fiber of my being. And one day; I, began anticipating it. I would be at my work area and begin pondering what I could make for supper. I began to get amped up for evaluating new plans, concocting something all alone, or utilizing new fixings. It got fun. Also, that is something I need to impart to you. Cooking is fun and energizing, and regardless of whether you think you will suck at it, recall, even I can cook.
